SuperSpinner D 1000 - Disposable bioreactor for efficient cell cultivation
The SuperSpinner D 1000 is a fully disposable, pre-assembled and ready-to-use bioreactor for efficient lab scale cultivation of animal cells. Main feature is a membrane stirrer which allows controlled and gentle mixing, bubble free aeration and which avoids foam generation.
The simple set up, low component prices and operational costs as well as the resulting productivity compared to standard cell cultivation techniques provide a fast and economic lab scale production of, e. g.:
- recombinant proteins
- monoclonal antibodies
- biomass as seed culture
Product Description and Specifications
The SuperSpinner D 1000 consists of a cultivation flask and a membrane aeration system that also functions as a stirrer. A hollow-fiber membrane is wound arround the stirrer bar which contains a magnetic core driven by a magnetic drive unit. A membrane gas pump feeds ambient air through a sterile filter into the flask. If special gasses should be supplied the assembly can be placed in an incubator (CO2-incubator for instance).

Fully pre-assembled bioreactor Gassing and agitation system as well as sampling and feeding ports are already fixed to the closure of the cultivation flask. The complete set-up is disposable, sterile and ready-to-use.
High cell density According to the efficient membrane-gassing & agitation system high cell densities can be achieved. Cell numbers depend on the medium, gas composition and the culture strategy, s. application notes.
Seed-Train bioreactor The cultivation broth can be transfered directly from the SuperSpinner D 1000 into a larger bioreactor. For this purpose the SuperSpinner D 1000 can be combined with the desired bioreactor in place by using the thermoplastic C-Flex® tube and a BioWelder® | BioSealer® system.
Sampling in place A clave adaptor, which fits to common lab syringes ensures a save & easy sampling in place during the cultivation.
Feeding of supplements Feeding is possible at any time of the cultivation by using the spare port, which is covered with a Luer-Lock connector.
Flask compatible to standard rotors Centrifugation of the suspension can be carried out in the cultivation flask.The format of the cultivation flask fits with a wide range of standard rotors. Each unit comes with an additional, sterile screw cap.

Membrane Pump
A membrane pump feeds ambient air through a sterile filter into the SuperSpinner D 1000. The pump delivers a flow rate of about 2 vvm.
Magnetic drive
Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH offers magnetic drives suitable for the use in incubator cabinets (100% humidity at –10 °C to 56 °C) with a speed range from 5–120 1/min.
